President's Message
I am honored to serve as your 2009 Kentucky APWA Chapter President. We have an excellent and engaged Board of Directors working for you this year. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this organization that I have been involved with for over 14 years. I will be following our immediate past President, Marc Adams. Marc did a great job during his tenure. In addition, the KY Chapter feels especially honored to have one of its own, Noel Thompson, serving as the 2009 National APWA Presidents, congratulations Noel.
2009 in shaping up to be an interesting year. We begin this year with the APWA International Snow Conference will be in Des Moines on April 26th thru 29th . This conference will be of special interest given the crippling 2009 ice storm the region experienced. Mark your calendars for the 2009 International Public Works and Exposition that will be held on September 13th-16th in Columbus Ohio.
The Branch and State Chapters are involved in many exciting activities such as the Scholarship Program, Education Advancement, National Public Works Week, Awards Program, Membership Outreach, and many others. I am very excited to get this year kicked off and I appreciate all the volunteer effort by those in our organization.
The current state of the economy is a challenge for all of us. It is easy to get discouraged and feel as if you're on your own. We want to remind you of the opportunity and resources your APWA membership gives you. Training and networking with your peers through APWA will help get us through these times and allow us maximize our limited resources.
Finally, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your president this year. I am looking forward to an exciting year with all the challenges ahead. Please contact me to get information on any ongoing opportunities or for any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Jeff Hackbart
